Seven steps to cope with chaos and emerge a winner

steps to cope with chaos… and emerge a winner

Don't take it personally.
Business changes and management changes. That's the nature of high-tech. But there's no return on spending time obsessing over who's to blame.

Assess your accomplishments.
After every project, it's important to sort the positives and negatives, and then integrate the lessons learned into your new project, job, or career.

Don't focus on the negative.
There is a positive outlook in every situation, and it's important to focus on that before any departure. Look at what you did and what wouldn't have happened if you hadn't been there. This will encourage you to move forward to the next challenge.

Know when to give up.
Truly believe that if you can't go through the door, you go over it, you go under it, or you go around it. But you've also learned to step back when it's too hard. If you feel you are constantly pushing uphill or hitting your head against a wall, it's time to let go or to take a new approach.

Know your purpose.
Focus on your long-term goals. Don't get caught up in one particular aspect of a project. Take a step back and concentrate on the original purpose.

Balance your life.
When a job or career isn't going as planned, it's important to have a satisfactory personal life to fall back on and to support you through the rough times. This can work both ways.

Keep exploring new avenues.
Keep trying new things. There is always another angle or approach to a job. Try them all. You may find the one that's right for you. Even better than the old one.

So …let change be a challenge to take you places. From chaos to comfort zone. Confidently.
